India’s second largest IT player Infosys announced plans to hire between 15,000 to 20,000 freshers in the coming year, despite reporting a decline in its total workforce for the sixth consecutive quarter.
As of June 2025, Infosys’ employee count stood at 3,15,332, a reduction of 1,908 employees from the previous quarter and a year-on-year (YoY) decrease of 20,962 employees.
The company’s attrition rate edged up slightly to 12.7 per cent for the first quarter of fiscal year 2025.
Infosys reported a 3.7 per cent quarter-on-quarter (QoQ) increase in revenue, yet experienced a significant 20.1 per cent sequential decline in net profit. However, on a YoY basis, net profit saw a 7.1 per cent rise to Rs 6,368 crore.
In its financial outlook, Infosys revised its revenue guidance for fiscal year 2025 to 3-4 per cent growth in constant currency terms, up from the previous projection of 1-3 per cent. This adjustment indicates a cautious optimism about future revenue prospects amidst evolving market conditions.
Comparatively, Infosys’ larger peer, Tata Consultancy Services (TCS), added 5,452 employees during the April to June quarter, bringing its total workforce to 606,998. Meanwhile, HCLTech, the third-largest player in the sector, reported a notable decrease of 8,080 employees in the same period.
