More than 1,000 engineering graduates have finally received confirmation from Infosys regarding their onboarding, with a scheduled joining date of 7 October 2024.
The long-awaited update, communicated via email by the company’s talent acquisition team, confirmed that the graduates will commence their employment in Mysore, India.
This development comes shortly after reports surfaced that around 1,500 students from the April 2022 batch, who had previously received offer letters, were seeking clarity on their job prospects after undergoing two rounds of pre-training in July and August. The situation had left many graduates anxious and uncertain about their future, with some waiting for nearly two years for a definitive joining date.
Since April 2022, approximately 2,000 engineering graduates had faced delays in joining Infosys for system engineer and digital system engineer roles, with annual packages ranging from Rs 3.2 to 3.7 lakh. The extended delay had prompted a formal complaint from NITES to the Labour and Employment Ministry in June, as students grappled with joblessness and the associated stress.
While some graduates had moved on to other opportunities, others continued to wait for Infosys to confirm their employment, despite the ongoing uncertainty. The broader IT industry, including Infosys, has been facing challenges in revenue growth due to a subdued demand environment, affecting job opportunities both in India and globally.
