Infinix has introduced the Note 40 Racing Edition. This new model, created in partnership with Design Works, a BMW Group company, has a Formula 1 racing-inspired design.
With components such as a streamlined frame and wing pattern, the smartphone has a Formula 1-inspired design. The phone's exterior is finished in high gloss utilising PC+PMMA materials and features BMW M Power-inspired tricolour highlights. Custom racing-themed backgrounds and icons are available for customisation.
The Note 40 Racing Edition is powered by the MediaTek D7020 5G processor, which aims to provide seamless performance. The device is available in two models, namely, the Note 40 Pro 5G, which costs Rs 15,999, and the Note 40 Pro+ 5G, which costs Rs 18,999. Both models have a 6.78-inch FHD+ Curved AMOLED display with a refresh rate of 120Hz and Corning Gorilla Glass GG5 for protection.
The smartphone has AI Active Halo Lighting for alerts, a 108MP OIS triple camera configuration and a 32MP selfie camera. Sound by JBL delivers audio through twin speakers. The Note 40 Pro+ 5G features a 4600mAh battery with 100W fast charging, while the Note 40 Pro 5G has a 5000mAh battery with 45W fast charging.
Both variants are powered by the Infinix Cheetah X1 chip and run Android 14, with two major upgrades and three years of security patches guaranteed. Other features include smart IR control via the WeLife app, NFC support and an IP53 splashproof rating. The smartphone will be available from 26 August, 2024.
It is not the first time a smartphone company has collaborated with an automobile brand. Infinix collaborated with BMW’s Design Works last year for the Note 30 VIP Edition with a similar theme based around racing. When it comes to collaborating as a luxury car brand, Porsche has been a key player in this league, with collaborations such as Huawei Mate 9 Porsche Design, Huawei Mate RS Porsche Design, both in collaboration with Huawei in year 2017 and with HTC for HTC PD in year 2010. This trend could be dated back to when Nokia and Ferrari collaborated to produce Nokia 8800 Ferrari in year 2006. Such collaborations provide the touch of exclusivity to the brand’s newly introduced products and are done with an intent of increasing sales and popularity for the brand.
