Defence Minister Rajnath Singh, EAM Jaishankar To Host Japanese Counterparts For 3rd 2+2 Ministerial Dialogue
India's Defence Minister Rajnath Singh and External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar to host Japan's Minister of Defence, Kihara Minoru and Minister of Foreign Affairs, Yoko Kamikawa, for the third India-Japan 2+2 Ministerial Dialogue on Tuesday in New Delhi.
The 2+2 Ministerial Dialogue high-level meeting is part of ongoing efforts to further deepen the defence cooperation and the Special Strategic and Global Partnership between the two countries.
In addition to the 2+2 dialogue, Rajnath Singh is scheduled to hold a bilateral meeting with his Japanese counterpart to discuss further defence collaboration. These interactions will provide an opportunity to review the current state of bilateral relations and explore new initiatives to strengthen engagement across various sectors, the ministry said in a statement.
The partnership between India and Japan has been rooted in shared democratic values, a commitment to freedom and adherence to the rule of law. Defence cooperation is a critical pillar of this relationship, especially in the context of ensuring a free, open, inclusive and prosperous Indo-Pacific amid the prevailing global environment.
The ministry believes that this visit will enhance the scope of defence collaboration and inject new momentum into the Special Strategic and Global Partnership.
The previous 2+2 dialogue took place in Japan in September 2022 and the upcoming talks are expected to build on the progress made since then.
