With 44 universities holding good places in the list, Indian institutions shine bright in the QS world ranking 2016. The QS world universities ranking, which was released on Wednesday, is a global higher education analyst and compiler of the world university rankings.
It releases a list of top universities from BRICS nations (Brazil, China, India, Russia and South Africa) every year which highlights the hierarchy of best institutions in the region.
Indian Institute of Science, Bangalore, had made its mark in top 10 institutions with overall 6th rank, while Delhi University has improved its position with 41st rank, as compared to last year's 46th rank.
The country having maximum number of institutions on the list, with 86 universities, is China, followed by Russia with 55 universities and Brazil with 54 universities.
On the basis of good academic and overall performance, 44 Indian universities qualifies to get a name on it. However, unlike earlier, this year these universities could not maintain their earlier positions.
It is believed that Indian Universities are held in good stead due to its brilliant research work that stand parallel to those of china and Russia. Another strong reason for putting Indian universities at a good position is: 21 out of the 44 Indian universities ranked among the 250 universities of BRICS nations.
