Prime Minister Narendra Modi, addressing the United Nations General Assembly's Summit of the Future, highlighted India's efforts in lifting 250 million people out of poverty. He also positioned India as a model for sustainable development, offering to share the country's success story with the Global South.
Modi emphasised India's commitment to sustainable development and its readiness to help other developing nations achieve similar goals. “Today, I am here to bring the voice of one-sixth of humanity... We have elevated 250 million people out of poverty in India, and we have shown that sustainable development can be successful. We are ready to share this experience of success with the Global South," said the Prime Minister.
He also stressed the need for global peace and stability, calling for reforms in international institutions. "Success of humanity lies in our collective strength, not in the battlefield. For global peace and development, reforms in global institutions are important. Reform is the key to relevance," Modi said.
In addition, the Prime Minister underscored the role of technology in bridging global divides. He called for the use of digital infrastructure as a tool for unity, not division. "Digital public infrastructure should be a bridge, not a barrier," he added.
