One just can not ignore the hospitality and the tourism industry while talking about the fastest growing sectors in the world, especially in India. In India, the hospitality and the tourism sector has now become an essential source of income, employment and wealth which is assumed to grow constantly with changing time.
Hospitality and Tourism are the key features of the state of Uttarakhand, which contributes a large amount in the economic sector of our country. For years, Uttarakhand has earned tremendous recognition in the field of Hospitality Industry. The hospitality sector is labeled as a service sector that provides services to their guests and requires management as per the norms and demands of the hospitality industry.
Sadly, We are all aware that pollution is growing at a rapid pace in India's national capital which stands as one of the biggest impactors behind the increase in tourism in Uttarakhand. According to recent reports, Delhi's pollution level has been brought down by 25% in the last 10 years which still needs to touch the 65% mark for meeting the clean standard.
Delhites are now familiar and used to the health-threatening air pollution level that goes up every single year. As a result of which, most of the Delhites opt to leave the city for a few days with their families and loved ones in order to escape from the rising pollution level. In the same process, Uttarakhand eventually becomes their preferred escaping destination which is nearly 349 km from Delhi. You might not doubt the Delhites selection if you are aware of the fresh air and surroundings along with heart-melting blue skies found in Uttarakhand that can easily draw anybody's attention.
In fact, Uttarakhand is the only state in India that has created the "Tourist Development Board" by legislation. The fact that two Indian largest, most worshiped and sacred rivers, Ganga and Yamuna, originate from the glaciers of Uttarakhand, is a good reason to count for the enormous tourism inflow.
Diwali is right at the corner and the fear of smog can clearly be seen on the faces of Delhites. It has been one repetitive issue which the national capital has to face every year along with the citizens living here. While many are still busy in their day-to-day lives, others might have started planning to escape to Uttarakhand to escape the smog-induced pollution along with enjoying it's a beautiful and pleasant environment.
Reportedly, hoteliers belonging to different cities in Uttarakhand state that they usually see almost double the number of tourists they usually see at this time of the year. For most of the hoteliers in Uttarakhand, the end of October and early November is a low season phase as the occupancy rate is nearly around 30%. But ever since the deadly pollution in Delhi is reported every year during this time, it has massively contributed towards the growth of the tourism and hospitality sector of Uttarakhand, increasing the occupancy rate to nearly 60% in most of the hotels.
As a result, entrepreneurs from different Uttarakhand cities claim to do great business through this dull season which emerges as a pleasant surprise for them. On the other hand, tourists can also be seen expressing happiness and joy as they enjoy the beautiful nature and surroundings of the beautiful hill stations of the region. As a result, tourists get to breathe in the fresh air, escaping from the hazardous high pollution level that usually hits Delhi during this time. But the increasing number of tourists in these areas usually results in parking problems which is a common concern in most of the regions of Uttarakhand.
While the arrival of tourists is always a piece of good news for the state of Uttarakhand, it is also important to keep an eye on the region's pollution level as more cars keep coming to the regions, gradually contributing to the increased pollution level.
