Nestled in the Qutub Institutional Area, International Management Institute (IMI) Delhi was established in 1981 in collaboration with IMI Geneva (now IMD Lausanne). IMI Delhi is India’s first corporate sponsored B-School established with the support of corporate houses like RPG Enterprises, Nestle, ITC, SAIL, Tata Chemicals, BOC and Williamson Magor.
According to the National Institutional Ranking Framework (NIRF) for Business Schools, IMI Delhi has been ranked at No.7 amongst all B-Schools in India and at No.1 amongst the private B-Schools in India. NIRF is a methodology adopted by the Ministry of Human Resource Development to rank all institutions of higher education in India.
Academics
The integrated design of academic programmes at IMI Delhi well equips students for a career spanning diverse functional domains. It offers a complete bouquet of management programmes, including the flagship two-year PGDM programme, a two-year PGDM programme in HR Management, a two-year PGDM programme in Banking and Financial Services, a 15-month Executive PGDM for mid-career executives, and a Fellow Programme in Management. It also offers Indian Technical and Economic Co-operation programmes, as it is one of the few institutions empanelled by the Ministry of External Affairs.
With over 46 full-time faculty members and 93 visiting faculties including eminent scholars, academicians, practicing managers and administrators, IMI Delhi has a diverse and experienced pool of faculty. It has a rich combination of academic rigour and corporate exposure, which acts as one of the institute’s distinct strengths.
Spread across 3 acres, the aesthetically designed campus offers a stimulating atmosphere, conducive to all-round development of a participant and also facilitates fervid cross-functional learning.
IMI Delhi ensures an all-round development of each participant through this healthy juxtaposition of various facets of learning inter-mixed with cutting edge technology on campus, facilitating both professors and students in their quest towards excellence. “Diversity, exposure and opportunity for holistic development are some of the characteristics that define the experience at IMI,” says Saumya Shankar Dixit, student, PGDM programme (2nd year) at IMI Delhi.
Collaborations & placements
Understanding the importance of interacting with the industry experts and to get the on-ground feel, IMI Delhi often conducts guest lectures for its students. Such lectures help students to keep them updated with the industry happenings and interact with the veterans face to face.
Shailendra Nigam, chairperson admissions, IMI Delhi, said: “IMI Delhi holds an important position in the context of profiles that are offered to the students, over the years we have upgraded ourselves tremendously and the kind of work our students do has also evolved over a period of time. We place a lot of importance on well equipping our students not just in hard skills, but also soft skills.”
The unique quotient
Apart from its flagship two-year Post-Graduate Diploma in Management programme, IMI Delhi also offers Indian Technical and Economic Co-operation programmes. The institute is among one of the few institutions empanelled by the MEA, Government of India for the course. Under the aegis of MEA organised special Commonwealth Assistance Programme, 15 international students are selected into the Executive PGDM Programme. These ITEC programmes are targeted at various developing countries from the Afro-Asian, South American and SAARC region. Another distinguishing feature of IMI Delhi is its strong Alumni network of over 5000+ professionals at senior management levels in leading corporate houses.
