The prestigious Dr Kanak Goel national award by the Indian Medical Association conferred on eminent gynaecologist Dr Hrishikesh Pai at the 91st National Conference of the IMA at Amritsar. The award is for Dr Pai’s services in the field of family planning and community services.
At the glittering function, Dr Pai was also felicitated by Dr. Ketan Desai the President of the World Medical Association. He received this award from the hands of former Governor of Mizoram Amolak Rattan Kohli and Dr K. K. Agarwal, President of the National IMA.
His pre-eminence in the field of gynecology has enabled him to achieve the premier position as the present Secretary General of the Federation of
Obstetric and Gynaecological Societies of India (FOGSI) which is one of the largest organisations of professional doctors consisting of 33,000 gynaecologists across the country.
Said Dr Hrishikesh Pai, "I am deeply honoured on being conferred with the prestigious Dr Kanak Goel National Award by the Indian Medical Association.”

Moreover, Dr Pai is known as the pioneer in the field of Infertility and IVF in India since 1991. He presently is the director of the Bloom IVF Group which runs nine IVF centre all over India including Lilavati hospital & Bhatia hospital Mumbai, Fortis hospitals in New Delhi, Gurgaon, Faridabad, Noida, Bengaluru, Mohali and Navi Mumbai. In order to enable poor patients to have access to advanced services Dr. Pai also has an IVF unit in the D. Y. Patil Medical College.
He has been the first doctor in India to introduce numerous innovations in medical fields such as assisted laser hatching, spindle view, ovarian tissue freezing for cancer patients, oocyte freezing, IMSI and embryoscope. In appreciation of his enormous contributions the international agency Frost & Sullivan bestowed upon him the best IVF group in India award in 2013.

Dr Pai has been the recipient of numerous awards such as the prestigious ‘Rashtriya Ekta Award’, Indian Medical Association (Mumbai West) ‘Best Doctor’ award, Navshakti newspaper Award, Jai Hind College Alumni Award, RK Trust Award, Medscape India National award and Lions International Gold Award.
