NIRF is the biggest hallmark of the educational institution. NIRF 2024 has ranked the Indian Institute of Technology, Madras top overall category and engineering discipline for the 9th time.
Indian Institute of Science, Bengaluru has been ranked 2nd in the overall category followed by Indian Institute of Technology, Bombay and Indian Institute of Technology, Delhi.
In the engineering discipline, the Indian Institute of Technology (Banaras Hindu University), Varanasi has come on the list for the first time.
Among the universities, the Indian Institute of Science, Bengaluru has been placed first, followed by Jawaharlal Nehru University, New Delhi and Jamia Millia Islamia, New Delhi.
While in management, the Indian Institute of Management, Ahmedabad topped the management category. The higher educational institutes are listed under 16 categories ; overall, universities, medical, engineering, management, law, architecture colleges, research institutions, pharmacy, dental, agriculture and allied sectors, innovation, state universities, open universities, and skill universities.
Hindu College again secured the first place among the best colleges in India, followed by Miranda House, St Stephens's College, Rama Krishna Mission Vivekananda Centenary College, Kolkata, Atma Ram Sanatan Dharma College, Delhi and St Xavier's College, Kolkata.
In the medical discipline, All India Institute of Medical Science, New Delhi ranked first whereas Saveetha Institute of Medical and Technical Science, Chennai secured first place among dental institutes of the country.
Research is the new focus of government and every other educational institution, The Indian Institute of Science (IISc, Bengaluru) has been ranked top among research institutions followed by IIT Madras, IIT Delhi and IIT Bombay.
Agriculture is again an emerging focus of the government to boost the agrarian sector, NIRF has ranked the Indian Agricultural Research Institute, New Delhi first among Agriculture and Allied Sectors. In the state public universities list, Anna University, Chennai has come first followed by Jadavpur University, Kolkata and Savitribai Phule Pune University, Pune.
Apart from regular education, NIRF also ranked the open education institution; Indira Gandhi National Open University (IGNOU), New Delhi at first and Netaji Subhash Open University, Kolkata at second.
Skill is a new buzzword that is being assembled by educational institutions, ranking skill institutions, NIRF placed Symbiosis Skill and Professional University, Pune at first and Shri Vishwakarma Skill University, Palwal at second.
The National Institutional Ranking Framework (NIRF) was approved by the MHRD and launched by the Minister of Human Resource Development on 29th September 2015.
This year, under the parameters of teachers & learning process, research and professional, graduation outcome, outreach & inclusivity and perception different institutions are ranked accordingly.
