Professor Abhay Karandikar, the current Director of the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Kanpur, has been appointed as the Secretary of the Department of Science and Technology (DST). The appointment is valid until he reaches the age of 60 or until further notice, according to an official notice. Meanwhile, IIT Kanpur has further reason to celebrate as two of its esteemed professors, Prof. Bushra Ateeq and Prof. Nitin Saxena, have been elected for the Indian National Science Academy (INSA) Fellowship for the year 2023-24. Prof. Bushra Ateeq, a renowned figure in cancer research, holds the position of Professor and Joy-Gill Chair Senior Fellow in the Department of Biological Sciences and Bioengineering at IIT Kanpur. Her work in the field has garnered admiration and recognition.
In addition, Prof. Nitin Saxena, from the Computer Science and Engineering Department, has also been honored with an INSA Fellowship. He is not only an accomplished academic but also the founding Coordinator of the Center for Developing Intelligent Systems (CDIS) at IIT Kanpur, highlighting his contributions to the advancement of technology and research.
