Indian arm of South Korean automaker Hyundai Motor’s newly launched sedan – the Next Gen Hyundai Verna, has received over 20,000 bookings and more than 150,000 enquiries. The car that was launched in August 2017 received this feat in a short span of two months.
It is worth mentioning here that post the launch of Hyundai Verna, the mid-high sedan segment’s average sale of 14,000 units (H1) crossed average 20,000 units, as informed by the automaker in an official statement.
This new benchmark by Hyundai Verna is definitely going to shake up the Indian sedan market, and the ones going to be affected the most are its direct competitors – Honda City and Maruti Suzuki Ciaz.
Earlier Hyundai Motor India Limited also announced that it has received an initial export order of 10,501 units for the Next Gen Verna from the Middle East market. The car will be known as the Next Gen Accent for the Middle East markets.
Now, after this recent statement on Verna bookings, it becomes necessary to give an overview of where exactly the sedan stands when it comes to Honda City and Maruti Suzuki Ciaz.
Hyundai Verna has several segment first features in it - Impact Sensing Auto Door Unlock, Front Ventilated Seats for keeping seats cool in hot weather, Smart trunk that automatically unlocks and pops-out when the owner stands within 1 meter behind the vehicle with smart key for over 3 seconds, Smartphone connectivity with IPS Panel, and FATC with Cluster Ionizer.
