Hyundai Motor India, on Tuesday (28 November), produced its 5 millionth car for the domestic market – the next gen sedan Hyundai Verna.
The company claims that this is the fastest 5 million mark achieved by any manufacturer in Indian passenger vehicle market.
Hyundai rolled out its 1st millionth car, Santro, in 2007 in 8 years and 7 months post commencement of commercial production in 1998.
Its 3 million mark was achieved in less than 2 years and 8 months in July 2013 followed by next fastest 4 million mark in 2 years and 4 months in November 2015.

Recently, in October 2017, Hyundai Verna has received initial export order of 10,501 units from the Middle East market. The Next Gen Verna will be known as the Next Gen Accent for the Middle East markets.
Hyundai Verna was launched on 22 August, 2017 in both petrol and diesel variants. While the petrol variants has been priced between Rs 799,990 – Rs 12,48,990, the diesel variants range between Rs 942,990 – Rs 12,68,990 (all prices ex-showroom Delhi).
Verna’s 1.6L Gamma Dual VTVT petrol engine churns out 123PS of maximum output at 6,400rpm, and 15.4Nm of peak torque at 4,850rpm.
The sedan’s 1.6L U2 CRDi diesel engine gives maximum output of 128PS at 4,000rpm, and peak torque of 26.5Nm at 1,500-3,000rpm.
Overall the car measures 4,440mm X 1,729mm X 1,475mm, with 2,600mm of wheelbase.
Safety comes standard with the Next Gen Verna. It features anti-lock braking system (ABS), six airbags system, front disc brakes, impact sensing auto door lock, and steering adaptive guideline.
From infotainment perspective, Hyundai Verna has supervision cluster, 7.0 touchscreen AVN system with IPS display, and fully automatic temperature control.
