Huawei has introduced a latest foldable phone innovation called Huawei Mate XT. With two hinges, the Mate XT is a tri-folding smartphone. The debut follows Tecno's Phantom Ultimate 2 concept which is not available for retail sale, making Huawei's Mate XT, the first tri-folding phone available for purchase. The smartphone will go on sale in China on 20 September, priced between RMB 19,999 and RMB 23,999.
Huawei Mate XT’s Specifications And Features
The Huawei Mate XT is intended to provide a dynamic multi-display experience, with a 6.4-inch single screen when folded and growing to a 7.9-inch 2K dual display or 10.2-inch 3K resolution tablet screen when completely unfolded. The Mate XT is one of the thinnest foldables on the market, measuring only 3.6mm when unfolded. Though Huawei has not provided detailed specifics regarding the chipset, it is likely to be powered by a Kirin SoC and run Harmony OS 4.2.
In terms of photography, the Mate XT has a 50MP primary camera with optical image stabilisation (OIS) and a variable aperture of f/1.4 to f/4.0. It also features a 12MP ultra-wide-angle lens and a 12MP periscope telephoto sensor with 5.5x optical zoom. The front of the device features an 8MP camera for selfies and video calls.
The foldable device has a 5,600mAh battery that supports 66W cable and 50W wireless charging. The phone's connection includes 5G SA/NSA, dual 4G VoLTE, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth 5.2 LE, GPS, NavIC, NFC and USB 3.1 Type-C. The Mate XT comes in three storage variants, starting from a 256 GB going up to 1TB, with a standard 16 GB RAM constant in all three of them.
The phone's screen is made of flexible polymers that bend in multiple directions, providing 25 per cent more bending resistance than existing foldables. For increased durability, the phone uses non-Newtonian fluid and UTG glass, as well as a composite ultra-tough laminated structure.
To add on to productivity, Huawei has released a foldable touch keyboard that works with the Mate XT to transform it into a desktop-like experience. The device comes in black and red and includes Freebuds 5 earphones, a USB Type-C connection and a charging adapter.
