HTC has finally unveiled its flagship smartphone after almost all the major brands having announced theirs. HTC 10 is the newest metal-clad smartphone from the Taiwanese smartphone maker continuing the legacy of the One series with a different nomenclature.
The smartphone looks like a combination of the HTC One A9 and the One M9 with a premium looking metal back with chamfered edges. The front has a 5.2-inch display with a 2K resolution (2560x1440) which the company says offers 30% more brightness that its previous models. Underneath the display there is a fingerprint scanner that also acts a home button and this time HTC has ruled out on-screen navigation keys with backlit capacitive ones on either sides of the fingerprint scanner.
Other highlights include an updated camera and high-res audio thanks to HTC’s patented BoomSound technology. The camera is a 12MP sensor making room for larger pixels rather than more pixels, something which Google and Samsung did with their flagships. The new camera will also have a laser autofocus system, optical image stabilization and an f/1.8 aperture. In the audio department there is a 24-bit DAC giving it a Hi-Res Audio certification and the company will also bundle a premium headset so that you get the best sound experience. Of course you new loud speaker experience but this time the arrangement is different. The handset splits the sound into lows which are played by a woofer and highs played by a tweeter. In short, you get two speakers but it isn't stereo output but a single 2-way bookshelf speaker.
The handset will be coming with the latest hardware and in four colours. Pricing has not been confirmed but it is expected to start from $650 (Rs. 42,000) to $750 (Rs 50,000)
