Honeywell has established a strategic relationship with Qualcomm Technologies to develop an AI-powered Multi-Modal Intelligent Agent for mobile devices. This technology, designed for the distribution and retail industries, will enable workers and customers to connect with mobile devices using speech, pictures and barcodes, considerably improving operational efficiency and accuracy.
The newly created AI-enabled Multi-Modal Intelligent Agent will act as a digital resource, allowing workers to access knowledge and complete jobs more efficiently. Workers can readily ask practical, job-related enquiries. The system can respond to a query in a variety of ways, including text, graphics, videos or spoken answers. By providing this flexibility, Honeywell hopes to shorten task completion times and improve accuracy across a variety of workflows.
This AI technology complements Honeywell's focus on three major megatrends- automation, digital transformation and labour efficiency. The AI agent is expected to alter how workers interact with technology, allowing them to multitask more efficiently. For example, in a retail setting, a worker may help a consumer while also managing complex operations. In distribution centres, the approach could simplify multi-step processes, minimising operational delays.
Qualcomm Technologies' involvement in this collaboration reflects sophisticated AI computing. "This collaboration with Honeywell underscores our commitment to innovative solutions that propel the expansion of the connected intelligent edge," said Nakul Duggal, Qualcomm's group general manager. He noted that the solution enables businesses to improve relationships by leveraging responsive and intelligent technology, ultimately enabling digital transformation across industries.
Jason Urso, Honeywell's CTO for Industrial Automation, had similar concerns. He stated that Honeywell's mobile devices, combined with Qualcomm's AI processors, will not only make workers' jobs easier, but will also help businesses provide better customer experiences.
The Multi-Modal Intelligent Agent will be accessible as a software development kit (SDK), allowing enterprises to integrate it with their existing applications and systems. With this versatility organisations can use the AI-enabled technology inside their existing operational frameworks without requiring major restructuring.
