Is it okay if I get political here for a moment? I know what you are thinking! You are thinking, “Well, let’s get rid of the bullies and then maybe we have a chance of fixing the major issues on the planet like global warming, hunger, and violence.”
Certainly, that makes sense. But I want to get political about something else, something deeper. On October 8, 2018 the United Nations Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC) released a dire warning.
We have at most 12-15 years to save this planet for our kids, that’s it, just 12-15 years. Thousands of scientists producing this study cannot be wrong. Somewhere along the line we hit the snooze button, we went into denial.
Heart-wrenching when I think about it. Many many scientists have told us for years that we cannot sit back on our haunches and wait for governments to do something. And therein lies a problem, whose job is it to fix this dismal situation?
Many governments are still focussing on carbon pricing, for example, all of them are missing (ignoring?) the most important thing that they could do to save the planet for our kids.
It is really quite simple, it is a no-brainer. They must encourage their citizens to …
Just be Vegan!
Any intelligent person who can read the data is clear. For example, here are the results from a recent massive study.
"A vegan diet is probably the single biggest way to reduce your impact on planet Earth, not just greenhouse gases, but global acidification, eutrophication, land use and water use," said Joseph Poore, at the University of Oxford, UK, who led the research. "It is far bigger than cutting down on your flights or buying an electric car," he said, as these only cut greenhouse gas emissions.
This study is the most comprehensive analysis to date (40,000 farms in 119 countries) of the damage animal farming does to the planet. So it is clear, avoiding meat and dairy products is the single biggest action any individual can take to reduce their environmental impact on the planet. Let’s not wait for the governments.
The vegan diet is the healthiest diet. It is fun to learn how to create delicious and nutritious meals. The Physicians Committee for Responsible Medicine (PCRM) is home to thousands of Vegan Doctors, Nutritionists and Dieticians. Their studies are also conclusive – if you want to be the healthiest and avoid disease,
Just Be Vegan
Ask any elephant! All elephants are Vegan. The PCRM makes it so easy. These medical experts offer a 21-Day Kickstart program free of charge. Sign up, you will be happy you did. If you are not solely a plant-based eater, what is in your way? Why do so many intelligent people still eat meat and dairy? Why is it so hard to give it up?
On top of many subconscious reasons which we can look at on another day, a main cause is addiction. Yes, people are addicted to the taste, smell and texture of both meat and dairy. They like it and we all know that addictions can be hard to get rid of.
To get rid of that addiction, one must move from the health realm to the spiritual realm. To stay vegan one must connect with the animals and know that they really really really want to live too.
They want to live a happy life with their own families instead of fearing the slaughter house and being separated from their families. To produce commercialized milk, the meanest thing happens.
It is common that mommy and baby cows are separated very young so that the mother will keep lactating and produce milk for humans. The babies cry and cry. They have feelings. They want to be with their mothers. Wouldn’t you?
Imagine if you were a baby and they took you away from your mother? This cruelty is a crime. Just substitute your cow’s milk for almond or cashew milk. Buy it or easily make your own.
Governments can expedite the carbon pricing issue but they should not just stop there because that is not enough to halt runaway global warming. Remember, we have at most 12 years.
Governments must go higher in their thinking. They must stop subsidizing the farmers that raise animals for food and encourage them to grow organic fruits and veggies instead. They must also subsidize the farmers who are already growing organic vegetables and fruit. Let’s give them a hand.
Because of conclusive research, governments have an obligation to encourage their citizens to stop eating meat because, as we have said, it is the biggest cause of global warming. November 1st is World Vegan Day.
I thank God that you are taking this simple but absolutely imperative action to save this planet for your kids and all kids. Thank you, I send you virtual hugs.
