On Thursday, to mark MSME Day 2024, MSME Minister Jitan Ram Manjhi launched a new Trade Enablement & Marketing (TEAM) scheme with a budget of Rs 277.35 crore for three years (2024-27).
The scheme aims to enhance e-commerce access for micro and small enterprises (MSEs) through the government’s open e-commerce network Open Network for Digital Commerce (ONDC).
The challenges faced by MSEs in accessing e-commerce, such as limited digital access, financial constraints, and lack of confidence in operating via digital platforms, will be addressed by the TEAM scheme.
It will provide support to Udyam-registered MSEs with catalogue development, onboarding on ONDC, and account management assistance.
A new scheme has been launched to provide subsidies to Micro and Small Enterprises (MSEs) for transportation, logistics, packaging, and packaging designs. The ministry aims to benefit 5 lakh MSEs over the next three years, with 50% of the beneficiaries being women-owned enterprises.
To create awareness about the scheme, the ministry plans to organize 150 e-commerce workshops in tier 2 and 3 cities and MSME clusters. The World Bank-supported RAMP program will implement the scheme through the National Small Industries Corporation (NSIC).
During the launch, the minister outlined six pillars that form the basis of MSME-related initiatives: formalization and access to credit, increased market access and e-commerce adoption, productivity improvement through modern technology, skill enhancement and digitalization in the service sector, globalization of khadi, village, and coir industries, and empowerment of women and artisans through enterprise creation.
Additionally, a Yashasvini campaign was launched to support 1 lakh women entrepreneurs in smaller cities with skilling and capacity building. The campaign aims to provide tailored support to women-owned MSMEs in tier 2 and 3 cities.
