Prime Minister Narendra Modi and French President Emmanuel Macron, participated in a bilateral meeting to discuss the sidelines of the G7 Summit in Apulia, Italy. The Prime Minister thanked the French President for his warm wishes as he assumed office for the third consecutive term following the recent Lok Sabha election.
While focusing on the 'Horizon 2047' Roadmap and the Indo-Pacific Roadmap, the two leaders reviewed India-France bilateral relations. They discussed diverse subjects ranging from cooperation in defence, nuclear, space, education, climate action, digital public infrastructure, connectivity and cultural initiatives such as the national museum partnership and enhancing people-to-people ties. With increased focus on ‘Make in India’, the discussion further intensified strategic defence cooperation.
Working closely in the context of the forthcoming AI Summit and United Nations Oceans Conference, both to be hosted in France in 2025, it was agreed to expand cooperation in the realms of AI, critical and emerging technologies, energy and sports.
Views on key global and regional issues were also exchanged between the two leaders. For a stable and prosperous global order, emphasis was put on a strong and trusted Strategic Partnership between India and France and they agreed to work closely to make it scale greater heights
With the forthcoming Paris Olympic and Paralympic Games, the Prime Minister extended his best wishes to President Macron.
