With a theme, "Building a Strong Foundation for School Education in India'', Central Square Foundation organised an Education Conclave 2023, setting the stage to deliberate the significance and renovation of foundational education in India, as per the objective of the NIPUN Bharat mission.
The conclave invited Dr Anshaj Singh IAS State Project Director, Samagra Shiksha, Dept. of Education, Govt. of Haryana, Lokesh Jangid IAS Additional MD, Samagra Shiksha, Dept. of School Education, Govt. of Madhya Prades), Joseph Emmanuel, Director, Academic, CBSE and Neelesh Misra, Journalist, Storyteller, and lyricist.
Focusing on the innovative way of infusing foundational learning and numeracy among the children, Neelesh Misra said that it is important utilise storytelling in the best way possible. He demonstrated the power of storytelling in making children learn promptly and effectively at the conclave.
He also informed about the initiative ‘Teacher Connection’ in order to understand and resolve the issue from the teacher’s end. Based in a small village, he truly comprehends the matter related to rural education and started teaching rural children online way before Covid-19.
Emphasising the exam pattern for the children, Joseph Emmanuel, Director, Academic, CBSE said that the exam should be an engaging as well as a joyful activity and Structured Assessment For Analyzing Learning (SAFAL) has brought in the system to do the same.
Emmanuel added that SAFAL is an initiative of CBSE to measure the learning capacity of children at every stage. He said, “SAFAL is an assessment of the CBSE that will analyse various skills, aptitudes and abilities of the children.”
He also mentioned the crucial role of technology to cover the last school that comes under CBSE and that also made this assessment cost-effective.
The two representatives from the bureaucracy, Dr Anshaj Singh IAS from Haryana and Lokesh Jangid IAS from Madhya Pradesh discussed the journey of implementation and execution of various education policy in their respective states.
As per the saying, a strong foundation makes a mighty structure, foundational education in India is on the path to get revolutionary changes that helped millions of children across the country to attain quality education in a joyful manner.
