Delhi University (DU) will begin the application process for its five-year integrated journalism course at the newly established 'Delhi School of Journalism' from tomorrow (23 August, 2017).
The last date of submission of application forms is 3rd September, 2017. The admission process would be conducted through a national-level entrance test conducted by the university which is scheduled to take place on September 17.
The entrance exam to be conducted is scheduled in English from 9 am to 11 am while in Hindi will be held from 2 pm to 4 pm; which will test the proficiency of candidate in general knowledge, current affairs, along with analytical and comprehension skills.
Students who secure 50 per cent in Class XII, irrespective of the stream will be qualified to appear for the entrance exam. Candidates from General category need to pay Rs 500 while SC/ST applicants need to pay Rs 250.
The 5-year integrated course will allow the students an option to exit after three years. A further entrance exam for post-graduation will be conducted only if there are vacant seats after three years.
The degree programme will include knowledge of four foreign languages - Arabic, Chinese, Spanish and French, along with two regional languages including Tamil and Bengali. Students will have to learn atleast one foreign and one regional language in the 10 semesters.
Manasvini M Yogi, officer on special duty (OSD), Delhi School of Journalism said, “There are 28 core courses, two ability enhancement compulsory courses, two skill-based ability enhancement elective courses, four general elective courses and four discipline specific elective courses and dissertation as per the UGC guidelines.”
