In a significant development for the drone technology sector, Drone Destination and the National Small Industries Corporation (NSIC) have signed an agreement to establish a state-of-the-art drone training centre at the NSIC facility in New Delhi.
The initiative aims to deliver comprehensive training programs covering various aspects of drone technology. These include drone repairs and maintenance, data processing and analysis, remote pilot training, and the emerging sport of drone soccer. The centre will prioritise skill development, job creation and the empowerment of India's drone ecosystem, the company said in a statement.
The collaboration between Drone Destination and NSIC is expected to drive advancements in drone technology and artificial intelligence, preparing a workforce ready to meet the growing demands in digital agriculture, survey and mapping, mining, asset inspection, surveillance and monitoring, disaster management and other critical sectors.
Chirag Sharma, CEO of Drone Destination, said that the collaboration with NSIC is a major milestone in our mission to democratize drone technology in India. Through specialised training and skill development programs, we aim to empower individuals and organisations with the expertise needed to leverage the full potential of drones. “These technical skill-enhancing courses, alongside our Pilot Training Certification already available at 12 locations across India, will ensure a skilled workforce to support the burgeoning drone ecosystem,” Sharma added.
Kartikeya Sinha, Director of Planning and Marketing at NSIC, said, “Establishing this drone training centre will be transformative, especially for aspiring youth and women in technology. By providing essential skills, we are paving the way for a more technologically advanced and self-reliant India.”
The training programs at the centre will be gradually introduced at all NSIC Technical Skill Centres, making cutting-edge drone technology education accessible nationwide. This initiative is poised to create numerous opportunities for skill development and employment, driving economic growth and innovation within the drone sector.
