Dharmendra Pradhan Inaugurates Phase II Of MGNF
Dharmendra Pradhan, Union Minister for Education, Skill Development, and Entrepreneurship, has started the second phase of the Mahatma Gandhi National Fellowship (MGNF). The MGNF is a two-year fellowship designed for young, dynamic individuals who want to help improve skill development at the grassroots level.
An official statement issued in this regard stated that the two-year fellowship seeks to combine classroom sessions by academic partner - Indian Institutes Of Management (IIMs) - with an intensive field immersion at the district level to create credible plans and identify barriers in raising employment, economic output, and promoting livelihoods in rural areas.
Pradhan, speaking on the occasion, urged fellows to serve as grassroots drivers of social change by promoting skill development programmes. He also requested that district collectors and academic partner IIMs assist the fellows and write a success tale of transformation through this fellowship.
He stated that we are striving towards an Aatmanirbhar Bharat under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi. Massive shifts occurring across sectors would generate a need for new skills and more trained professionals, necessitating skill mapping at the district level and directing skill development activities appropriately, he noted.
Pradhan urged the fellows to work with global thinking and a local approach, including incorporating local language into skill development activities, in order to meet the needs of the twenty-first century and local reality.
