Nissan Motor India Pvt. Ltd. (NMIPL) has launched Datsun redi-Go 1.0 at a starting price of Rs 3.57 lakh (ex-showroom Delhi). The car is available in two trims -- T (O) and S -- with the price going up to Rs 3.72 lakh (ex-showroom) and five colour options i.e. red, silver, lime, grey and white. Powered by a 1.0 litre engine (borrowed from Renault Kwid), this new variant delivers a fuel efficiency of 22.5 kmpl. It will be taking on market leader Maruti Suzuki’s Alto K10 variant. The Indian arm of the Japanese carmaker is also working on an AMT variant which will be launched shortly.
“Building on the successful launch of redi-Go last year, Datsun now offers a more powerful driving experience with the redi-Go 1.0L,” Nissan Motor India Managing Director Arun Malhotra told reporters while launching the car.
The new variant is powered by an intelligent spark automated technology (iSAT) three cylinder engine, which is mated to a five speed manual transmission and produces 68PS of maximum power at 5,500 rpm and delivers a peak torque of 91Nm at 4,250 rpm. The new redi-GO 1.0L is equipped with a host of features like black interiors, a music system with disc drive, USB support and AUX input, remote keyless entry, central locking, driver side airbag, silver finish on the AC vents and horn pads etc.
Datsun redi-GO brand ambassador Sakshi Malik, India’s first female wrestler to win an Olympic medal was also present to launch the model.
