The Aamir Khan-starrer Dangal is faring well through the weekdays in China after a humungous weekend. The movie added $4.95 million on Monday and $4.92 million on Tuesday taking the total collections to Rs 450 crore.
The movie is at the top spot in China’s box-office for the consecutive second week after its release in China. Dangal was ahead of Disney and Marvel’s anticipated release, Guardians of the Galaxy Volume 2 in China.
Dangal opened at the Beijing International Film Festival earlier this year. Since then, the buzz for the movie was growing in China and the box-office numbers are a proof of Dangal’s success in China. The movie received tremendous response from the audience and the word of mouth is super strong.
Directed by Nitesh Tiwari, the film stars debutants Sanya Malhotra and Fatima Sana Sheikh in the lead with Sakshi Tanwar. The movie has been produced by Disney Pictures India, UTV and Aamir Khan Pictures.
Dangal has been performing very well since its release in China. The movie added Rs 174 crore in week 1 and Rs 208 crore in Week 2. These are the best numbers for an Indian film ever in International territories. With some great numbers coming in from China, Dangal is inching closer to Prabhas’ Baahubali in the international markets.
Dangal has collected more than 480 million yuan in China since its debut. Fared in second was Disney’s Guardians of the Galaxy Volume 2 with 200 million yuan. Other local and international releases were low in China, with King Arthur adding 36 million yuan and Hong Kong crime drama Shock Wave collected 28 million yuan.
Looking at the trend, the movie is expected to add big numbers in the coming weekend. The collections of Dangal in China have gone par all the predictions by trade experts. However, the movie is expected to cross Rs 600 crore mark in China, taking its international collections to over Rs 1,400 crore.
