The Central Public Works Department (CPWD) has floated a revised pre-qualification bid to build an office complex for MPs at Rs 1,210 crore, reducing the project cost by Rs 225 crore.
The proposed buildings will come up at plot number 119 in Lutyens' Delhi at approximately in the area of 98,000 square metres. Earlier, it was decided to be built on an area of 1,18,000 square metres.
Transport Bhawan and Shram Shakti Bhawan will be demolished to establish the new office complex. The existing government offices will be vacant from the complex.
As per the revised document, the office complex will be of eight floors, earlier, the proposal was for building 10-storey structures. Also, a tunnel will be built that will connect the chambers with the new Parliament building.
The project includes furnishing, interiors, landscaping, system glazing, stone carving and construction of the civil structure of the complex.
Tree plantation will be done as per the requirement and any existing services will be diverted if required, the document read.
The Central Vista Redevelopment Project foresees a new triangular Parliament building, a new residence and office for the prime minister, an enclave for the vice-president, a common central secretariat, revamping of 3 km long Kartavya Path from Vijay Chowk to India Gate along with the construction of new chambers for MPs.
