Boult offers a plethora of features in the Klarity 3 TWS earbuds. The earbuds get a 6-mic setup, Bluetooth v5.4, app support, and a 50db active noise cancellation. The buds also support dual device connectivity which is always good to have if you are a power user and need to switch between your smartphone and your laptop or desktop.
These features look great on paper but how do they perform in real-life, everyday situations? Let’s find out.
The packaging is pretty standard and has all the necessary accessories. We get the case that houses the earbuds, we get a charging cable (type A to type C), we get spare tips and lastly, we have the paperwork.
The ideal TWS earbuds are not hard to crack as shown by the numerous products available in the market. That being said, Boult seems to have cracked the code with the Klarity 3. It is superbly built and has no rough edges whatsoever. The hinge of the case feels solid and so does the material used for building the case. The snapping sound that the case makes is satisfying to hear (this was something that I missed in the Klarity 1 earbuds). The product I received has a semi-glossy textured case. Some variants in the Klarity 3 have dual-textured cases, glossy at the top and matte at the bottom.
The earbuds fit nicely on the ears and they stay put without any discomfort. The traditional stem-style earbuds of the Klarity 3 make for a comfortable and ergonomic design which helps them stay on without any hassle. The charging port is a standard type C while the charging speeds are commendable too.
As far as performance is concerned, the Klarity 3 earbuds are some of the best budget TWS earbuds I’ve used so far. They are simply too good. It’s one of those situations where you need to call an apple an apple. There is no other way about it.
Sound quality
The Boult Klarity 3 has 13mm BoomX audio drivers, Boult’s proprietary technology. The earbuds also have up to 50db of active noise cancellation (ANC) which works like a charm. Codecs such as SBC and AAC are supported. These buds are gaming compatible as they offer ultra-low latency of up to 45ms. One simply needs to tap on the earbuds four times. The touch function on the earbuds is very responsive.
The earbuds also offer Spatial Audio which will never be not impressive for wireless earbuds at this price range. All you need is a quadruple tap on your right earbud.
Is the ANC any good? Well, it is if you want to shun the AC or the ceiling fan noises out. Not that effective against outside cacophony, though. The Transparency Mode is great for being aware of your surroundings.
Bluetooth connectivity
Users get Bluetooth v5.4 with these earbuds which really showed while my time using this product. There was no issue in connectivity whatsoever. However, it did take me a few tries to connect the earbuds to my Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 6 for the first time. There are also very rare times when the two earbuds are not paired together and I need to turn on one of them separately.
The earbuds turn on when you remove them from the case, as usual. Similarly, placing them back in the case turns them off. To save power, it turns off by itself when it is not connected to any device for more than 10 minutes.
A 6-mic setup
The 6-mic setup makes sure the audio during calls is bearable. I will mention that the audio is not professional grade so these earbuds will not be ideal for voice calls or video calls. However, everyday calls should not be a problem.
Dual pairing
The dual pairing feature in the Klaity 3 is extremely utilitarian, in my opinion. In theory, this should allow users to pair to two different devices at the same time. For example, if my earbuds are connected to my smartphone and my laptop, they should ideally be able to switch between the two devices depending on the need. If I have an incoming phone call, the earbuds would direct their attention to the phone call. Similarly, if I began editing a video on my laptop, the earbuds would pick up the audio output from the laptop.
In reality, however, you might face a bit of a lag. The Klarity 3 earbuds do manage to juggle two devices simultaneously but you might find yourself manually connecting them to your desired device occasionally.
Battery
When it comes down to battery life, the Boult Klarity 3 earbuds have quite the numbers. With a total runtime of about 50 hours, the case takes close to one hour to charge fully. In case you are in a hurry, the buds can be put on a quick 10-minute charge for up to two hours of juice.
Software support
With the Klarity 3 also comes the Boult Amp mobile application which allows users a full gamut of customisable options. The equalizer, for instance, on the Klarity 3 is very detailed and provides the users with a wide array of choices. the app, overall, is extremely helpful in giving the user full autonomy over the product and using it according to their preferences.
The product scores well on almost all parameters and is genuinely a good TWS product holistically. When you factor in the price, this becomes even better. The ROI on the Rs 2,199, which is the price these earbuds are retailing at on ecommerce websites, is admirable.
A premium build, good audio, applaud-worthy bass, app support and of course, a cost-effective price tag, all of these put together make the Boult Klarity 3 a lucrative TWS option in the sub-3,000 price bracket.
There is heavy competition in this segment, though. With products like the Realme Buds T300, JBL Wave Beam, OnePlus Nord Buds, Realme Buds Air 3S, Noise Buds VS303 and even the Boat Airdopes 421 if you are willing to spend a bit closer to the Rs 3,000 mark. However, the Klarity 3 manages to stand out mostly because Boult gets the fundamentals right.
