Indian banks' loans rose 11.5 per cent in the two weeks to February 5 from a year earlier, while deposits rose 11.3 per cent, the Reserve Bank of India's weekly statistical supplement showed on Friday (19 February).
Outstanding loans rose Rs 63,090 crore ($9.21 billion) to Rs 71.53 trillion in the two weeks to February 5. Non-food credit rose Rs 56,580 crore to Rs 70.45 trillion, while food credit rose Rs 6,510 crore to Rs 1.09 trillion.
Bank deposits rose Rs 91,260 crore to Rs 93.61 trillion in the two weeks to February 5.
