Asus has unveiled its latest charger, the Asus GaN Charger AC65-05, which is intended to suit the needs of modern, on-the-go customers and is priced at Rs 2,799. The charger stands out for its use of Gallium Nitride (GaN) technology, which is known for its electrical transmission capabilities. This allows the ASUS AC65-05 GaN Charger to charge quickly and efficiently while producing minimal heat.
Th charger has two USB Type-C ports, letting one charge two devices at once. When charging a single device, the charger can deliver up to 65 watts. When both ports are in use, the Smart Load Balancing feature offers to transfer the power efficiently between the two devices. The charger includes a 1.5-meter 5A USB-C-to-USB-C connection, and Asus claims it can charge a phone's battery up to 50 per cent in 30 minutes.
The device is compact and lightweight, measuring 40.1mm x 30mm x 80.36mm and weighing 114 grammes (+/- 10g). This makes it the smallest charger in Asus's series, making its portability better. The charger is made of polycarbonate and has an integrated electronic marker chip (E-marker) for compatibility with a variety of devices and cords.
The charger has been tested for durability, including a 3000-cycle cable bend test and a 10,000-cycle insert-and-removal test, to ensure it can sustain frequent use. The charger's input specs are 100-240V at 50/60Hz and 1.5A, with numerous output scenarios: USB-C1 and USB-C2 supply 5V/9V/12V/15V at 3A and 20V at 3.25A, respectively, for a maximum output of 65.0W. When both ports are used, the power distribution is adjustable, with options such as 30W+30W, 40W+25W, 25W+40W, 20W+45W and 45W+20W, for a total output of 65.0W power delivery.
