With its Republic of Gamers (ROG) branch, ASUS India has introduced the arrival of the most recent version of its handheld gaming console in India, the ROG ALLY X. The console builds on the popularity of the previous year's ROG ALLY and boasts a sleek black design with updated ergonomic features for comfort during prolonged gaming sessions.
The AMD Z1 Extreme CPU processor, which powers the ROG ALLY X, promises to deliver enhanced performance for portable gaming. The Radeon 780M integrated GPU, which has 12 Compute Units (CUs) supplies more graphics capacity for a more engaging gaming experience. The ROG ALLY X will be sold both online and offline, with a starting price of Rs 89,990.
The ALLY X has a notable change in the form of an 80Wh battery, which is intended to facilitate extended gaming sessions. The device also has the Armoury Crate Special Edition (ACSE), which was created especially for Windows mobile gaming. In order to maximise gaming, the most recent version, Armoury Crate SE 1.5, offers improved customisation choices and simplified controls that work with the ROG ALLY X.
With a full-sized 1TB 2280 M.2 NVMe Gen 4 SSD that can be expanded to 4TB, storage has been improved and offers plenty of room for apps and games. 24GB of LPDDR5X RAM, operating at 7500MT/s, also has been added to the memory.
In his remarks about the launch, Arnold Su, Vice President, Consumer and Gaming PC, System Business Group, ASUS India, emphasised the many improvements made in response to input from the ROG ALLY community. He cited the enhanced responsiveness and comfort provided by the larger battery, faster RAM and considerable storage as the main enhancements.
With a refresh rate of 120 Hz and a brightness of 500 nits, the ROG ALLY X display maintains its immersive Full HD 1080 resolution. The monitor covers 100 per cent of the sRGB colour gamut and offers Variable Refresh Rate (VRR), which removes screen tearing and artefacts. The gadget has larger bumper buttons, gripping texturing all over the chassis and hall-effect triggers on top. It also has multi-touch capabilities.
The device provides graphics clarity and fluidity by supporting advanced AMD technologies such as AMD Fluid Motion Frames (AFMF), FidelityFX Super Resolution (FSR) and Radeon Super Resolution (RSR). Dolby Atmos-enabled dual speakers enhance the audio experience by producing realistic virtual 5.1.2-channel surround sound. A complimentary lifetime subscription to the Dolby Access app is also given to users.
For connectivity include the ROG ALLY X's two USB-C ports, one of which has a USB4 connection with a 40GB/s transfer rate that supports Thunderbolt e-GPUs. The gadget also has WiFi 6E capability, which is necessary for dependable access in crowded networks when playing multiplayer games or streaming content.
The updated Zero Gravity thermal system, which features a third air outlet for better airflow, has increased cooling. The system maintains a temperature difference of up to 8 degrees overall and up to 6 degrees for the panel with an additional fan chamber vent directed towards the display. The fluid-bearing fans and Anti-Gravity heat pipes reduce noise for a smooth gaming experience.
An AMD Z1 Extreme processor with 8 cores and 16 threads, a 24-million-byte total cache and a maximum CPU clock speed of 5.10 GHz are among the specifications for the ROG ALLY X. With compatibility for up to 8GB of VRAM, the GPU has integrated AMD Radeon 780M RDNA3 graphics. With a 1920 x 1080 resolution, 120Hz refresh rate and 7ms reaction time, the display is a Full HD IPS panel protected by Gorilla Glass Victus and Gorilla Glass DXC.
Along with these ports, the device has a 3.5mm audio jack, a USB 3.2 Gen 2 Type-C, a UHS-II microSD card reader and a Type C supporting USB 4. Dolby Atmos, Hi-Res Audio, two-way AI noise cancellation and two 1W speakers with smart amp technology are all included in the audio system. With a 65W PD converter, the 80Wh 4-cell Li-ion battery may be charged quickly.
With dimensions of 28.0 x 11.1 x 2.47 ~ 3.69 cm and a weight of 678 grammes, the ROG ALLY X is lightweight and convenient for handheld use. The starting price is Rs 89,990 for the device.
