The world’s bestselling laptop, MacBook Air, is going to hit the market soon powered by the latest M2 chipset. The upgrades to this category-defining laptop were announced during the WWDC 2022 keynote.
In its new form, the MacBook Air will have everything that users love it for and more. It will also be available in four colours – silver, space gray, midnight, and starlight. Apple also announced that the redesigned MacBook Air and updated 13-inch MacBook Pro will be the first of the laptops to be powered by the M2 chipset.
“We’re so excited to bring our new M2 chip to the world’s two most popular laptops — the MacBook Air and 13-inch MacBook Pro,” said Greg Joswiak, Apple’s senior vice president of Worldwide Marketing. “Completely redesigned around M2, MacBook Air is thinner, lighter, and faster with a bigger display, better camera, and all-day battery life, in four beautiful finishes. Only with Apple silicon can you build such a thin and light notebook with a fan-less design, and this combination of performance and capabilities.”
Liquid Retina Display
The first amongst the noticeable features in the redesigned MacBook Air is its 13.6-inch Liquid retina display that has been expanded closer to the sides of the screen and around the camera to make space for the menu bar. This small change has resulted in a larger display with thinner borders.
The display is 25% brighter than before at 500 nits and it supports over a billion colours. So, the photos and videos you view on the latest MacBook Air will look very vibrant.
New 1080p Camera
The latest version of MacBook Air doubles down on its camera quality as it will now feature a new 1080p FaceTime HD camera with twice the resolution and low light performance than its previous iteration. This will combine with M2’s advanced image signal processor, the camera will ensure that you look good on video calls.
Thinner and Sturdier
The wedge shape of the previous Air has evolved to a new design that makes the laptop thinner from every angle.
Now, the Apple laptop has a durable, aluminum unibody enclosure that is incredibly solid. In fact, the laptop has dropped significant volume (up to 20 per cent!). The new Air will be just 11.33 mm in thickness and weighs 0.45 kg.
Performance Takes Centre Stage
The all-new MacBook Air has been built with M2 at its heart. The redesigned Air will be capable of delivering a great performance, which is backed by new features that come with the new chipset, including 24GB of unified memory, ProRes acceleration, and up to 20 hours of battery life.
The laptop, armed with the M2 chipset, will be available for purchase in the month of July in India at a price of Rs.1,19,900.
