Apple's CEO, Tim Cook has kicked off Apple’s Worldwide Developer Conference 2022 (WWDC) with an opening keynote.
Tim started by talking about how Apple's Tech Talks which intends to help developers better understand its products. Apple also announced the launch of a developer academy for women in Saudi Arabia as well. 'We expect millions of developers to join us this year as well,' he says. Apple has over 34 million app developers.
The first major update is iOS 16. s The lock screen gets a major revamp on the new operating system. Users will be now able to customise the Lock screen from colour filter to the font for the time to the picture.
All elements on the lock screen are customisable. Users will be able to add widgets as well to the lock screen.
Lock screen will also get a new 'Live screen' activity feature. There's also a new 'Focus' filter where users can filter out notifications from applications that users do not prioritise.
Tim Cook had earlier tweeted "Developers assemble! It's going to be a great day! #WWDC22", suggesting that some major announcements could be expected.
The most anticipated announcements are the ones that go beyond the typical iOS or macOS domain which include Apple's upcoming AR/VR or mixed reality headset. Apple is expected give a glimpse at future AR/VR features, including realityOS
Apple is hosting the event as online-only, with some select media and YouTubers attending the event in person at Apple’s Cupertino campus in California.
