Indian arm of American automaker Ford Motor Company has launched its much awaited compact SUV - the all-new Ford EcoSport 2017 in the country on Thursday (9 November) For Rs 731,200 (ex-showroom Delhi). The price remains unchanged from the outgoing EcoSport.
Speaking at the launch, Anurag Mehrotra, president & managing director, Ford India, said localisation on Ford EcoSport grew by 25 per cent since the SUV was first launched in 2013. Currently, the SUV comes with 85 per cent localisation.
The new Ford EcoSport 2017 gets new exterior and interior design elements, as well as an all new petrol engine.
Ford EcoSport's new 1,497cc, 1.5L Ti-VCT, 3-cylinder petrol engine provides power at 123PS (90.5kW) and torque at 150Nm. This engine gives mileage of 17km/l (MT) and 14.8lm/l (AT), claims the company.
This new engine comes in addition to the already existing 1,498cc, 1.5L diesel engine which churns out a power of 100PS (73.8kW), torque of 205Nm, and gives a mileage of 23km/l (MT).
On the outside, the vehicle has received power fold mirrors with puddle lamps, smart entry with capacitive touch, all-new petrol engine, projector headlamps with LED DTRLs, new fog lamps, new 43.18cm (17 inch) alloy wheel, and new front grille.
Ford EcoSport's interior has got following changes - 20.32cm (8 inch) touchscreen with SYNC 3, smart key with push button start, 6-speed automatic transmission, cruise control with speed limiter, paddle shift, new bucket seats, and front centre armrest.
The all-new EcoSport's enhanced SYNC 3 system integrates smartphone with Ford using Apple CarPlay, Android Auto or AppLink 3.0.
Safety wise, it comes equipped with six airbags. Front and side airbags for the driver and front seat passenger, side and curtain airbags for front and rear seats.
Apart from this, it has hill launch assist, electric stability control, and Ford MyKey which allows drivers to set speed warnings, activate seat belt reminder and limit vehicle's top speed and audio volume.
The compact SUV will be available in seven exterior colours - Absolute Black, Moondust Silver, Diamond White, Smoke Grey, Race Red, Lightning Blue, and Canyon Ridge.
The vehicle measures 3,998mm X 1,765mm X 1,647mm, with 2,519mm of wheelbase and 352L of boot space. The boot space is expandable up to 1,178L. It has around 30 small and large storage spaces.
The newly launched SUV is going to give competition to the likes of Maruti Suzuki Vitara Brezza, Mahindra TUV 300, Honda WR-V and Tata Nexon.
