Japanese automaker Honda Motor Company unveiled its all new 5th generation Honda CR-V, for the Indian market, during the Auto Expo 2018. Since 2003, Honda CR-V has been imported in India; from 2013 local assembly of the SUV initiated.
Building on the previous four generations, the all-new 5th Generation Honda CR-V comes with new styling featuring LED headlights and tail lights, LED Daytime Running Lights, a sharp-lined front grille, and new sporty-designed alloy wheels.
For the first time, Honda CR-V will be introduced in diesel powertrain along with petrol engine option in the Indian market. This will strengthen CR-V’s position in the SUV segment largely dominated by diesel variants.
Honda CR-V will compete with Hyundai Motor India’s 2016 launched compact SUV – the Tucson.
All New 5th Generation Honda CR-V
The 5th generation of CR-V presents a totally new design, powered by a revolutionary 1.6L i-DTEC diesel engine and will offer new 7-seater variant. It will likely be priced within a range of Rs 18 lakh – Rs 24 lakh.
All New Honda CR-V offers bolder SUV character with larger dimensions and wider fender design. The front side of All New CR-V is marked with new headlamps design that uses full LED, daytime running light, and LED fog lights. The All New Honda CR-V also features new designed tailight combined with LED light bar, new tailgate spoiler and dual exhaust pipe and finisher.
Inside the cabin, All New Honda CR-V features an advanced metercluster to display various real time driving information. A leather-wrapped steering wheel equipped with audio steering switch, hands free telephone switch, and cruise control. An advanced 9” touchscreen audio video system has been equipped with various functions including smartphone connection, navi system, multi angle rear view camera, and nano technology.
The SUV will also be equipped with standard safety equipment, including 6 airbags, anti-lock braking system, hill start assist, vehicle stability assist, electric parking brake, auto brake hold, emergency stop signal, and many more.
All variants of the all new Honda CR-V will be available in 7 colours - Crystal Black Pearl, Modern Metallic Steel, Lunar Silver Metallic, White Orchid Pearl, Red Pearl Passion, Deep Ocean Blue, and Dark Olive Metallic.
Hyundai Tucson
Tucson is available in both NU 2L petrol and R 2L diesel variants in three trims each. Both the engines come in both six speed manual and automatic transmissions.
While the petrol variants are priced within a range of Rs 17, 99,900 – Rs 22, 24,900. The diesel ones come for Rs 19, 99,900 – Rs 25, 44,000.
From exterior styling perspective, Hyundai Tucson sports dual barrel LED headlamp, hexagonal chrome grille, front skid plate, electric folding outside mirrors, chrome finish beltline, chrome door handle with pocket light, LED rear combination lamps, rear spoiler with high-mounted stop lamp, and twin chrome exhaust.
The inside of Tucson features 20.32cm smart HD AVN with voice recognition, steering wheel remote controls, USB & AUX, and center console armrest with storage.
Hyundai Motor India provides a host of safety features in Tucson that include 6-airbag system, electronic stability control and vehicle stability management, anti-lock braking system, and down-hill brake control and hill-start assist control.
Hyundai Tucson comes in five exterior colour options – Star Dust, Polar White, Sleek Silver, Phantom Black, and Wine Red.
