Indo Count Industries (ICIL) runs a 100 per cent export-oriented unit (EOU) for production of bed linen. The company is focused on innovation and sustainability and recognises water as a critical natural resource. Indo Count Industries has strategically designed its processes to be water-efficient to ensure optimal utilisation of this precious commodity.
The company’s commitment to responsible water management is evident in its Water Policy. Indo Count Industries emphasises reduction in water consumption through increased waste water recycling and reuse of water, apart from rainwater harvesting. Over the past two years, the company has implemented numerous initiatives, reducing fresh water consumption by over 780 million litres in the last financial year alone.
Indo Count Industries has embraced technological upgrades. It boasts of a cutting-edge Reverse Osmosis (RO) and water reuse system that achieves a 92 per cent recovery. The quadruple effective evaporator, with 91 per cent condensate recovery, exemplifies ICIL's dedication to sustainable water practices.
*Sustainability Integration
In keeping with the United Nations Global Compact's 17 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), ICIL has identified nine SDGs for its business. The company's mission for 2030 involves setting targets to achieve sustainability performance and create benchmarks, with a goal to be net-zero by 2050.
The company’s commitment to sustainability is underscored by its certifications. Indo Count Industries facilities are certified by Hohenstein (Germany) under the STeP program that ensures production of Made in Green labelled products for the market. Verified through third-party assessments, ICIL has scored an impressive 90.6 per cent in the HIGG Facility Environmental Module (FEM).
*Water Neutrality and Efficiency
In pursuit of water neutrality, ICIL has expanded its Effluent Treatment Plant (ETP) and Reverse Osmosis (RO) facility, reducing fresh water consumption from 50 per cent to 25 per cent in the 2022-23 fiscal. The company's water-saving initiatives extend across various areas, from machine installations demanding the latest water-efficient equipment to implementing counter-current water flow systems in wet processing machines.
Recently, ICIL has started a water-saving project at the Caustic Recovery Plant (CRP) to enhance its sustainable practices. Recognising higher water utilisation in CRP operations, a dedicated team analysed and optimised each stage of the process. The project, following the DMAIC methodology, resulted in out-of-the-box modifications to enhance water efficiency and sustainability.
Indo Count Industries is a beacon of innovation and sustainability in the textile manufacturing industry, weaving together responsible practices and cutting-edge technologies to create a greener and more sustainable future.
