CrowdStrike CEO George Kurtz said on Thursday that more than 97 per cent of the company’s Windows sensors have been restored following a significant global outage caused by a recent software update.
The incident, triggered by a fault in the company’s Falcon platform, led to widespread disruptions as computers running Microsoft’s Windows operating system experienced crashes and the notorious blue screen of death.
Microsoft reported that around 8.5 million Windows devices were affected by the malfunction. The outage caused severe interruptions, including grounded flights, halted broadcast services and restricted access to critical services such as healthcare and banking.
In his LinkedIn post, Kurtz said that CrowdStrike’s recovery efforts were supported by the development of automatic recovery techniques and the deployment of extensive resources to support customers.
