On faster adoption of luxury electric cars in India
India's electric vehicle market has strong demand but hasn't reached its full potential. As charging infrastructure improves and awareness of benefits grows, demand is expected to rise. On our part, we have already installed 140+ chargers in 75 cities, including dealerships and strategic locations.
On addressing ‘range anxiety’ for EV users
We've created an ecosystem for customers. The 'e-tron hub' on the ‘myAudi Connect’ app guides customers on e-tron functions and features. The ‘Charge my Audi’ feature provides access to multiple charging partners, with over 1,000 charge points and more to come. Recently, we opened India’s first ultra-fast charging e-tron hub in Mumbai with a 450kW capacity and a 360kW output. We continue to enhance this EV ecosystem to boost customer confidence.
On the first made-in-India EV Audi & changing customer profile for luxury EVs
It is a matter of time (for a made-in-India Audi EV). We will announce this as and when our plans firm up. A lot of young and aspirational buyers have emerged with increasing disposable incomes, especially from India’s burgeoning entrepreneurial ecosystem. Currently, 70 per cent of Audi India’s customers are below the age of 50 years.
On the overall contribution of luxury EVs to Audi India business
By 2030, we expect luxury EV’s contribute to half of the sales. The improving charging infrastructure, awareness around the benefits of electric car ownership will together push the demand for electric vehicles in general including luxury EVs like ours.
