Acclaiming the rollout of 5G telecom services as a revolutionary step, Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Wednesday said that the 5G telecom service will take the education system in India to the next level. He stated the latest technology will go beyond "smart facilities, smart classrooms and smart teachings.”
Speaking at the roll out of the Gujarat government’s Mission Schools of Excellence initiative in Adalaj town of Gandhinagar district, PM Modi underlined, “Students can now experience virtual reality, the Internet of Things and other cutting-edge technologies in their schools with the help of the 5G service.”
Drawing a parallel between the existing 4G service and the 5G service that will be available to students as study aids, the PM stated that if 4G is thought of as a bicycle, 5G could be identified to an airplane.
The Mission Schools of Excellence will assist advance the education infrastructure in Gujarat with smart classrooms, computer labs and new classrooms. The schools in Gujarat will get an overall infrastructural upgradation too.
Under the Mission Schools of Excellence, the state government will build 50,000 new classrooms and transform about 1 lakh existing classrooms of government-run schools into smart classrooms using the 5G technology, the PM stated.
“Using this technology, a teacher can impart real-time education to several schools in villages through the online mode,” he stated. “Students of villages will benefit the most from this initiative.”
