Republicworld.com introduces the digital front of Republic TV with many game changing features to drive organic viewership. Jay Chauhan, COO, Republicworld.com explains the unique features of the website which can prove to be game changing for the News industry of India.
He said, "We have come up with technology specifically for delivering content on mobile screens. Hence we introduced vertical viewing where viewers won't have to rotate their screens to view content for full screens and can have the whole display on vertical viewing." He further spoke about the 360 Virtual Reality by adding, "To deliver the best user experience we have also introduced 360 Virtual Reality which gives viewers the experience of being virtually present during each event or news story covered by Republic. We will cover everything in virtual reality."
The new web portal for Republic contains many other features apart from virtual reality and vertical viewing. The broadcast team has set up a parallel control room system where content for digital is based on the content being distributed on television. The display being vertical is based on the choice of the person speaking or reacting.
The platform also consists of 10-15 regional languages including English, Hindi, Tamil, Kannada, Telgu, Gujrati, Assamese, Odia, Bengali for subscribers to follow along with the type of news that they want to receive. Vikas Khanchandani, CEO, Republicworld.com talks about the demand for going digital.
He said, "In television and digital, video content has always been the fastest growing medium. I believe in numbers and we have already achieved 460 Million views on the internet and 790 Million views on television within two months. The pace in digital is just phenomenal and this will be the destination for all types of news content."
Arnab Goswami, MD and Co founder, Republic TV also shared his views and expectations from the new online portal at the launch.
He said, "This is a new media landscape and we are going to take on this new platform in the most disruptionist way. We've had leadership on the TV broadcasting for over 8 weeks and plan to expand to digital as quickly as possible. We are India's first integrated news."
The website plans to deliver a personalised experience to every individual subscriber and includes columns for sports, opinions and exploring habits which are driving the tools of engagement and provide other content people like including news. Republic TV have 31 news content partnership where they are creating a content exchange environment to deliver news at scale.
The launch took place at the Republic TV office in Mumbai on the 7th of July, 2017.
