People evolution is the need of the hour, in India, and not technological evolution, said Gaurav Chaubey, Director, Grant Thornton. He was speaking at the launch of ‘BW People’, a magazine dedicated towards the domain and the ecosystem of human resources.
He further added that it doesn’t have to be a big organization to bring technological revolution. “People, Process and technology must go hand in hand.”
Abhishek Buddhiraja, Director HR, Snapdeal said, “HR products need to evolve on the technological front and become innovative as Facebook or Whatsapp”. He further added that for Snapdeal as a company, technology came by default, HRs just had to compare the technological verticals, but that is not the case for every other company, which must change.
“From sending emails to High-Tech advancements, HR technologies have come a great way, but there is a long road ahead.” mentioned Sumit Khandelwal, Xoxoday. ‘HR tech solutions are continuously evolving to cater the demands of technology savvy employees’, he added.
Anil Kumar Mishra, CHRO, Magicbricks, highlighted the increase of augmented and virtual reality. HR practices that were contemporary few years back are now application driven. Tech advancements have made process simpler for the employees and the HR’s, he concluded.
Margaret D’Souza, HR Head, Zeta underlined, ‘The rapid disruption in HR Space has increased with performance employee tracking and digital record keeping software. She talked about the issue of employee tax structure and quoted, ‘The employee tax structure is still stuck, there have been improvements in the recent past, but it’s a long road ahead for many companies’.
30 to 40 per cent of the Indian companies still spend more than 30 percent of their time administrating the tax benefit programs of their employees, which is the slowest in the World.
Sameer Khanna, VP and Head Human Resources, Ericsson India talked about the positive side of technological disruptions, as it helps HR community to create better and faster technology. He further added, technology is the need of the hour and its impacting people and their careers. Gone are those days when only transactional side of HR practices were looked at, now the roles of HR have diversified to the structural side.
Quoting the famous Sherlock Holmes, ‘only pick up the technology that’s required, do not clutter your organization with unnecessary technology, because your competitor is using the same’, he concluded.
