Over 15 Tech Disrupters Awarded At BW TechTors 2020

Where rewards are high, risks are higher. The technology sector, a case in point, perhaps has more failures than successes. In an industry as dynamic as this, BW TechTors is the list that has gone through levels of editorial and jury screening to arrive on a handful few, whose technology innovations show promise of growth.

This year, in the second edition of BW TechTors, BW Businessworld and its community focussed on startups and entrepreneurs, BW Disrupt, received over 150 nominations. Following an initial round of review, BW Editorial Board arrived at a shortlist of nearly 80 nominees. Around 30 of these shortlisted attended the Jury Meet to present in person. For the remaining entries, videos and ‘elevator pitch’ presentations were presented to the Jury.

Jury deliberations led to 16 top winners, and eight companies to watch out for. The winners were honoured at an awards ceremony on January 23, 2020 in New Delhi. 

The BW Businessworld & BW Disrupt TechTors 2020 (in alphabetical order) are:

Chaired by Sanjeev Aggarwal, Co-founder, Helion Venture, the jury comprised Dr. Annurag Batra, Chairman & Editor-in-Chief, BW Businessworld & exchange4media Group; Mahendra Swarup, Founder, Venture Gurukool; Nikhil Vora, Founder & CEO, Sixth Sense Ventures; Ravinder Pal Singh, Chief Information & Innovation Officer, TATA SIA Airlines; Sadiya Naseem, Founder & CEO, GlamStudios; Ghanshyam Tiwari, National Spokesperson, Samajwadi Party and Prashant Mehra, Partner, Grant Thornton India.

In their jury evaluation, the jurors paid attention not only to the differentiation of the product nominated but also the ethos of the entrant company itself that distinguishes it as a tech company. The jury also evaluated on financial performance, business and organisation structure and the future readiness of the company in their decision making.
