Nifty declines 38 points on selling pressure

Mumbai, Nov 14 (PTI) The NSE benchmark Nifty today dropped by 38 points to to end below key 10,200-mark, extending losses for the second consecutive day as infra, PSU bank, IT, metal and realty stocks declined.

The NSE Nifty opened higher at 10,223.40 and moved in a range of 10,248.00 and 10,175.55 before ending at 10,186.60, eased by 38.35 points, or 0.38 percent from its last close.

It saw an intra-day movement of about 72.45 points.

The Nifty Midcap and Smallcap indices fell by 0.21 per cent and 0.64 per cent, respectively.

Sector-wise, Infra dipped by 1.18 percent followed by PSU Bank 0.65 per cent, IT 0.60 per cent, Metal 0.52 per cent, Realty 0.48 per cent, FMCG 0.33 per cent, Pharma 0.33 per cent, Media 0.32 per cent, Finance Service 0.19 per cent, Pvt Bank 0.17 per cent.

While, Realty and Auto sector rose by 0.48 per cent and 0.20 per cent, respectively.

Major index gainers were, HeroMotoCo, Axis Bank, Bajaj Finance, Reliance, Bajaj Auto, M&M, Lupin and Kotak Bank.

Losers included, Infratel, IOC, Larsen, HindPetro, Powergrid, TCS, Sunpharma and AsianPaint.

The market breadth, indicating the overall health of the market, was in favour of lossers. On the NSE, 702 stocks advanced, 1,035 declined and 67 remained unchanged.

Total securities that hit their price bands were 211.

Turnover in the cash segment rose to Rs 33,869.84 crore from Rs 30,447.87 crore as on Monday.

A total of 15,313.01 lakh shares changed hands in 10,828,545 trades. The market capitalisation of listed firms on NSE stood at Rs 1,41,42,054.19 crore. PTI ARR MR
