Despite the ongoing layoffs, the startups and technology companies top the charts as being the most attractive workplaces for Indian workforce, according to LinkedIn study
Startups and technology companies have been more in news for their layoffs rather than the much talked about disruptions a few months back. Defying all the odds, they somehow continued to remain the top attractors of 2016 and the most sought after companies to work with.
According to a study by the professional social network, LinkedIn, Flipkart and Amazon continue to hold top two spots in the annual ratings, the second time in the row. The list of 25 Top Companies in India also saw over 30 per cent of new entrants, with PayTm's parent company One97 Communications, making a debut and ranked 4. On similar lines, startups like Swiggy (Rank 15), Grofers (Rank 22) made it to the list. Among the companies making upward movements was Ola which jumped from 10th to 5th position and Oyo moving from 16th to 9th.
Giving a similar surprise were the Indian Information Technology (IT) companies who have been under gloomy clouds of layoffs, automation and visa scuffles. They continue to remain attractive for the potential employees, which includes names like HCL, Wipro and Tech Mahindra.
This list of 25 companies was conceived by LinkedIn data, including job seeker reach, engagement and retention, paired with an editorial lens that examines the billions of actions by LinkedIn's 500+ million members.
"India Inc is thriving, backed by an increasing business friendly sentiment and a positive economic trajectory. Understanding the pulse of a younger employee base, enterprises in India are working to build an ethos that drives performance and also delivers a rich workplace experience", said Irfan Abdulla, Director Talent Solutions & Learning Solutions, LinkedIn India.
The study reveals that the professionals are attracted to companies that disrupt the status quo and lead by example. Internet companies that have proved their mettle as disruptors in their space also made it to the list. These include some of the biggest homegrown names in their respective categories such as MakeMyTrip and Swiggy, also stating that fact that these homegrown companies are increasingly being considered by job seekers.
