Bharat Net Phase Two To Be Completed By December 2018

In a felicitation ceremony held today in New Delhi at the completion of Bharat Net phase one, secretary Sundararajan also pointed out how work has already started on phase two of the project in some zones

Phase two of Bharat Net, the famed government policy which aims to connect Rural India to broadband internet, might be completed by late this year, said Aruna Sundararajan, Secretary, Department of Telecommunications today.


In a felicitation ceremony held today in New Delhi at the completion of Bharat Net phase one, secretary Sundararajan also pointed out how work has already started on phase two of the project in some zones.


“This is truly marking the beginning of wireless broadband and data in rural India and is a revolutionary step in the Digital India movement,” said Ms. Sundararajan


Also present during the ceremony, Manoj Sinha, Minister of State (independent charge) for Communications said, “The project was in a slow phase during its launch way back in 2011 but look at how we have come so far, the first phase has already been completed and second is scheduled to be completed by the year end.”


Senior officers of Bharat Net project and others working in partner organisations were felicitated during the ceremony. On behalf of BSNL, CMD, Anupam Shrivastava took the certificate.
